A prequel that was just as amazing as the rest of the O'Conner books!

For those not familiar with this family saga be forewarned I do talk about which man Marcy chooses!

After adoring the O'Conner family in the Daughters of Boston and Winds of Change series I was extremely excited to read this prequel about the O'Conner parents! And oh what a book it was! I loved it like I've loved every other one of Julie's books I've read. This author has such an amazing talent and once again played with my emotions. It was such fun seeing a younger Marcy and Patrick and watching their journey to love that we'd gotten hints of in the other stories. On one hand knowing how the story would end up made it easier to read and on the other hand it made it more painful. It was painful to watch all the turmoil they had to go through and watching Marcy almost end up with Sam when you knew how amazing her life was going to be with Patrick. I would get so frustrated during the scenes Marcy and Sam were together and then get a dopey grin on my face whenever she was with Patrick. I loved watching as his love for Marcy transformed Patrick into the amazing hero I knew and loved and brought him close to God. I also loved Marcy and her close relationship with God and how that kept her from making the wrong choices! Oh and I can't write this review without mention how much I loved Patrick's interaction with the kids especially Tillie. It was just so stinkin' cute! I could go on for days on how much I loved this book but I better end it so I can go reread the rest of the O'Conner saga!

How many hours of my life I'll never get back??

I have to agree with another reviewer that Marcy WAS a dope! Throughout the whole book she wants one man pretty much just because she loved his large family. And for all her professed faith in God, when did she ever pray to God to ask who she should trust, who she should be with? She got mad at the people who tried to tell her the truth and never tried to discover it for herself. Why couldn't she go to the bar and find out the truth for herself? Probably because she had no spine and liked living in the dark.

Truth be told, the only reason I read this book was because it was $.99 and I thought it was supposed to be a novella. It SHOULD have been, because it just dragged on and on to the point where I was skipping whole chapters just to read the dialogue. After reading several of her other books, I had no desire to read the same tired plots and stupid faithless men who care more about sex than anything else, but I thought it would be a good Christmas read. It wasn't. It barely even talked about Christmas, mostly taking place six months before and up to Christmas (and by the way, who starts rehearsing for a play six months in advance??? They sure didn't do that in any plays I've ever been in!).

Overall, it was the same Lessman plot garbage as always. I think she only knows how to write two character types: the holy one and the scoundrel. And most of the wording she uses sounds like she took a bad writing class about how to make your verbs sound more expressive. "Pinged" a rock, "buffed" their arms, "Southie's most notorious rogue/Lothario"--yada, yada, yada. It got really old. As much as I wanted to give her another chance, I won't. This book was lousy and I don't know why I even finished it. I really wonder if all the glowing reviews were just written by people who were asked to write them. Don't buy it; I always read the negative reviews first and this time they're spot-on.

A Light in the Window/reviewing the sample

This author is likely trying to bring "50 Shades of Gray" into her so-called Christian Fiction genre which to me is an oxymoron. She has gotten it that sex sells in the market. The Bible, however, warns against such things calling it fleshly and worldliness. Married intimacy is very beautiful in the confines of marriage and even though Lessman marries off her sin-soaked characters in a twisted fashion, she throws in a lot of premarital activity which is condemned by the Lord. This author needs to get out of the Christian Fiction category and go headlong into the world or repent and start writing books that edify her readers and not leave them feeling like needing a shower with a strong soap. I, for one, am giving up on her books and sticking with the Book of Truth. I will sleep better.

5 KISSES: "I have been a fan of Laurie Roma's from her first novel, Under Pressure, and this novel did NOT disappoint! The detail that Ms. Roma puts into her novels makes me feel as if I am right there with the characters, living and breathing in the lives that they live. The adventures of the heroine in this novel are amazing, the character, Allie, is a well rounded and amazing heroine. Strong in her own right and that spoke to me as a woman, and her men, wow. Drools. All that I can say is that Ms. Roma has once more created a new world for us to live and dream inside of with the Arcadian's and I truly hope that there is far more in store with them. This novel is exceptionally well written, well thought out and with such detail that you truly fee as if you are there. I've fallen in love with a new author!

I have been reading romance novels since I was a teenager (which was a long time ago.) So it's pretty difficult to come up with a creative idea that I haven't seen before. And though time travel and paranormal romances are not new, Laurie Roma has managed to come up with some new twists in Into the Dream that I wasn't expecting. That is only one of the many reasons why I recommend reading Into the Dream.

Allison is a surgeon in the second year of her residency. She had a difficult childhood, growing up in foster homes where she was often neglected or emotionally abused. Her difficulties in life continued as she attempted to be successful in a male driven specialty. Into the Dream begins when Allison is having one of those "if it can go wrong, it will go wrong" days. Then to add insult to injury, she is struck by lightning while walking home.

She awakens to find herself in a different universe, one with a dark-red sky and two purple moons. Allie runs into Tynan, a seven foot giant who she is instantly attracted to. Tynan brings Allie back to his home where it turns out he is a prince. Tynan is the perfect romance hero. Not only is he a prince, but he can read Allie's mind and wants only to make her happy. He is handsome, protective, tall and built proportionately. He is also a triplet. In Arcadia, males are always born in trios; and because men outnumber the women, brothers share their mate. Tynan's brothers, Cael and Ryder, are set on making Allie their mate after feeling the bond she has formed with Tynan.

I loved Ms. Roma's explanation behind the brothers' connection. "The blood bond of brothers is different. We share thoughts and memories like a collective being. We may do separate actions during the daylight, but when we sleep. Our brains connect. When we awaken we each have the other's memories of the last rising." It is because of this connection that the brothers are able to share a mate without feelings of jealousy. Each brother has his special time with Allie and she learns to love each brother as an individual. Cael and Ryder are just as perfect as their brother. What woman wouldn't want three handsome princes falling in love with them?

Despite finding love, Allie isn't sure she is happy in Arcadia. She struggles with how women are treated in this world and works diligently to bring independence and freedom to Arcadian women. I loved Allie's independent streak. Tynan, Cael, and Ryder had so much to learn about human women and watching Allie teach them resulted in more than a few laughs.
Ms. Roma's attention to detail brought to life the world of Arcadia. It also made the love scenes between Allie and her men so hot that I found myself wishing I could go to Arcadia and find my own trio. The love the men felt for Allie was evident in every touch. It brought an additional layer to the sex scenes.

Into the Dream is a wonderful read from beginning to end. Even if you aren't a fan of the science fiction genre, I still recommend that you read this book. The science fiction was incidental to the romance and passion. There was so much drama, humor, and passion in every page that once I started reading Into the Dream, I couldn't put it down. Into the Dream was so enjoyable to read that I look forward to more books in this series.

Amazing couldn't put it down book!

Let me start off by saying I don't usually write reviews, I don't know this author, and I read a lot - two to three books a day. I loved this book! It is one of the best books I've read lately. The plot was well thought out, I loved the paranormal twist and the world this author created. The heroine Allie was a strong female, the males each had distinct personalities and you could really feel the individual bonds Tynan, Cael, and Ryder had with Allie as well as the m�nage bond. This writer has a knack for seamlessly blending the sex scenes into the story so well that they become a natural progression of the story. Too often lately I feel like authors have crossed the line from erotic to porn with no real plot and poorly written sex scenes. There were a few minor typos but overall the book was well edited. I didn't want this book to end. I am praying this becomes a series. If you love well written paranormal romance, with a great story, characters and romance this is the book for you.

I usually don't read books that involve the character getting thrown into another universe due to the awkwardness of it, but there was none of the awkwardness that usually comes of that situation. Ms. Roma's writing is excellent and engages the reader in a way very few authors are capable of. The price is a little high; 3.99 would probably be a better price, but even still I feel like it was a decent purchase.

Allie is a doctor on Earth, one with no friends or family, and when she is struck by lightning, she is transported to another world where men outnumber the females. She wakes up and is confronted by one of the natives of the planet, Tynan, who uses a blood bond to create a connection so they may speak until he can get her a language converter. Like I said earlier, there was no awkwardness, just smooth writing. She and Tynan hit it off and he takes her as his mate. Problems arise when he introduces her to his family as such without bothering to explain that in Arcadia, since male children are born in threes and the triplets have a psychic relationship, they always share their mate. Big shocker when Allie becomes pissed off, but before things get overboard or just too dramatic, the third brother of trio, Ryder, comes in about to die after being injured in an accident. Arcadia does not have doctors since they have a higher healing rate, but even that healing ability can't save them from major injuries. Allie forces her way to Ryder and fixes him up. After this the second brother, Cael, works on winning her over and getting her to believe that Tynan really wasn't trying to insult or hurt her. With the help of mind-melding and constant attention from Cael and Tynan, Allie eventually believes that the do really care for her and want what is best for her. Ryder enters the picture later on, and in my opinion, a little too fast since she jumps right into bed with him. It might have had something to do with the psychic sharing that she yearned for Ryder while he was healing. There are twists and turns, but not the usually petty stuff that I roll my eyes at and think that chit is just picking fights. Allie succeeds in being both independent but not afraid to rely on her mates and her mates are kind and loving, but still have flaws. One thing that was consistent through the book was that the males always had her in the for-front of their minds and their devotion was clear but not overboard.

This book is an amazingly well written and totally worth the read. For dragon lovers, this book is definitely a must. I can easily say that I cannot wait for a sequel!

The way the author introduces his cleverly named characters, the atmospheric setting, the fun tone of his narration--all indicate that a hugely entertaining story is in store. The first installment of his Children of the Lamp sequence is set firmly in the present day, but it soon breaks away and encompasses several wonderfully colorful parts of the globe, England and Egypt included.

John and Philippa Gaunt, two twelve-year-old not-very-identical twins, live a privileged life on the Upper East of Manhattan with their wealthy parents and two curiously-mannered Rottweilers named Alan and Neil. The twins realize there's something amiss with their world when a string of strange things begin to happen after their wisdom teeth are extracted--they dream the same dreams, become stronger, their zits clear up, and wishes wished in their presence inexplicably come true. And, when their estranged Uncle Nimrod asks them to come to England for the summer during one such shared dream, the discovery of their destiny is set in motion.

John and Phillippa discover that they are descended from a long line of Djinn, have great inherent powers. They must call on these powers a lot sooner than they anticipated, though, because the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten is not as dead as history has so far declared and his legion of seventy magical djinn could tip the balance of power in the magical realm and affect the whole world order.

Grade 5-8–In this uneven fantasy, 12-year-old twins live a privileged but uneventful life in New York City until both John and Philippa need to have their wisdom teeth extracted. Afterward, the children begin to experience strange growth spurts, have cravings for smoke and heat, and gain the ability to grant wishes. After inviting them to visit him in London, their Uncle Nimrod informs them that they are descended from the Marid tribe of djinn. As he begins their training, they travel to Egypt, where they are pursued by Iblis, the leader of an enemy tribe who thinks Nimrod knows the location of the lost tomb of Akhenaten. This pharaoh bound 70 djinn to his service and whoever finds his tomb will have the ability to command them and shift the balance of power from good to evil. As they travel around the world, the siblings and their uncle have numerous adventures, culminating in an encounter with Akhenaten's ghost. The writing has a cinematic quality as Kerr provides detailed glimpses at the changing scenery; at times, there is too much description, particularly of room furnishings. In-depth characterizations are sacrificed for the often humorous, fast-moving plot. British thriller-writer Kerr puts an ingenious spin on the enchanted-lamp theme in his first novel for children, in which 12-year-old twins John and Philippa discover that they come from a preeminent family of djinn. Although their powers are not yet fully fledged (they're constantly forgetting whether spiraling into a bottle should be done clockwise or counterclockwise), the twins must help their powerful uncle Nimrod preserve the balance between opposing djinn tribes. Kerr's background as a writer for adults may explain his tendency to give grown-ups more personality than his preteen protagonists, and one sometimes winces at characterizations that seem like holdovers from the colonial era (one Egyptian servant named Karim is dubbed "Creemy" because he smiles "like a cat that's had the cream"). But it's hard not to admire the well-crafted scaffolding that supports the fantasy (for instance, all djinn suffer from claustrophobia--you'd have it too if your ancestors were always getting trapped inside stoppered vessels). Casting kids in roles of real magic and power is a time-tested premise, and this variation gains extra appeal from its sources in a refreshingly different tradition than those generally tapped by witch-and-wizardry retreads. The enticing metallic cover won't hurt, either. Expect the twins to transubstantiate in two more volumes to complete the Children of the Lamp trilogy. Exuberant

Exciting, I love each book. Adventurious.
I would recomend these books for the young at heart.
People of all ages from 4th grade to a hundred years of age or older.
These books made me feel like I had jumped in to the book and part of
the adventure.I also felt like a kid again.
