A chance encounter, a chance at love...and one heartbreaking choice. A Conduct Unbecoming sequel. Ensign Aiden Lange is taking a hike-and it's not for the pleasure of seeing Okinawa's Hiji Falls. It's in the hope that claiming he took a fall on the rocks will cover up the fact he was beaten up in a gay bar. Not a place a Naval Academy grad wants to get caught if he's serious about his career. At the end of the trail, a surprise comes with the scenery. A gorgeous young guy in swim trunks. Connor didn't come up to the falls to find a man, but he's instantly intrigued by the ensign with the bandaged eyebrow. A hike turns into dinner, and before he knows it, he's up to his heart in love with the gentle, infinitely patient Aiden. It's a small world, though, and an even smaller island. It's only a matter of time before they're caught by a man who's more than just Connor's overprotective father. He's also Aiden's high-ranking boss. Someone with the power to force Aiden to choose-Connor, or his naval career. Warning: Contains two adorable guys who don't give a damn that the deck's stacked against them, plenty of sex on the beach, and the hottest application of sunscreen you've ever read.

two hot young guys. one military. one a student
By brant
This is a sequel but it's not critical to read the first book. I related more to the first book because the guys were in their mid- to late-30s. The guys in this book are young: 20 and about 24. So while I didn't relate as much you might I will say while this author is a very good writer there was not much to this book except the two guys and their relationship. That was about it. And quite a bit of sex. So if you like that then you will like the book.

A good story of young love that is so powerful it takes your breath away
By DiDi - Guilty Pleasures BR
There is a lot I liked about General Misconduct by L.A. Witt starting with the fact that it ran concurrently with her previously published book Conduct Unbecoming. I love that this was a younger couple and that despite the difficulties of being together they wanted each other so much. I love that the characters from Conduct Unbecoming gave advice and support to this couple. Most of all I loved that even though these two are very young, they are very determined and aren’t afraid to face whatever it takes to be together. This book gives anyone who supports marriage equality for all hope and sometimes that’s just what the world needs.
After a fairly frightening encounter and on the advice of a military policeman on a way to explain his injuries Aiden hikes to Hiji Falls and encounters Connor another American but judging from his haircut not military. It’s a chance encounter and one that throws them both for a loop with the chemistry flowing between them but neither one is sure that the other is gay. It was fun to watch these two try and figure out if the other one was gay and questioning bringing it up and then the relief they both felt when the truth was revealed. ‘

With Aiden being around 24 and Connor being 20, these are young men and while Aiden has some experience Connor doesn’t which makes their meeting even more special. I respected the hell out of Aiden for knowing that he had to move slowly and Connor knowing it was okay to ask him to slow down when he needed it. There was such a mutual satisfaction of just being with each other that at first the physical was like the gravy on top; they really learned a lot about one another especially after they are caught by Connor’s father.

Aiden being in the military and Connor being a military dependent things were very complicated for these two yet it was so easy to see they had some very deep feelings for one another. Yes, Aiden takes some advice and makes what could have been the biggest mistake of his life but he mans up big time and faces down the one person who could truly ruin his career to make it right and I give him huge kudos for having the guts to do so.

While not quite as emotionally charged as the first book in this series, General Misconduct is a very good story of young love that is so powerful it takes your breath away and makes you believe that sometimes first love can be forever love.

I love L.A. Witt's writing style. Like the first book in this series, she provides very vivid descriptions that make it easy to visualize Okinawa. Another book that was easy to get lost in with great characters, location and storyline.

One of the best popular books on yoga
By Dennis Littrell
This book was my first yoga book; as such it is close to my heart. I read it (in another edition) in 1974 and used it as a guide to my practice for many years thereafter. It is not, of course, "complete." No "complete book of" ever is. That is a publisher's fiction. It is however, very thorough in presenting the yoga of Patanjali and the classical Hatha Yoga Pradipika to the English speaking reader. Much of the book is devoted to asana, highlighted by 146 photos of demonstration by an unidentified young man, who is as good as, if not better than (if that is possible), the accomplished and illustrious B. K. S. Iyengar in showing the sort of suppleness and precision that can achieved. The photos really are extraordinary. (As noted in a comment to this review by "louisnapoli" the person doing the asanas is a young Vishnu-devananda.) There is an excellent and lengthy chapter on pranayama and several on the philosophy and spiritual aspects of yoga. Consequently this goes beyond hatha yoga and becomes a treatise on raja yoga, the so-called "king's yoga" or "ashtanga yoga," or "eight-limbed" yoga--the yoga codified and outlined by Patanjali about eighteen hundred years ago. Raja yoga, which is a continuation of hatha yoga, is to be distinguished from the three other yogas of the ancients, karma yoga, bhakti yoga, and jnana yoga, respectively the yogas of selfless action, devotion, and knowledge. (There is also tantric yoga, the so-called "left-handed path," the beginnings of which are lost in antiquity. Following the example of the Bhagavad Gita, tantric yoga is not mentioned in this book.) Raja yoga is sometimes called "the science of mental control," as it is here on page 220.

There are many experts on asana; and there are many academics whose knowledge of yoga and yoga culture is extensive. But there are few public teachers of yoga who have mastered all aspects of yoga and can be said to be truly accomplished. Vishnu-devananda is one of them, that is clear from this book. B. K. S. Iyengar is another. I have read nearly a hundred books on yoga in English, and I would not be able to identify more than a handful of other authors as "siddhas," or "accomplished ones." Usually, a yogi who realizes samadhi ceases to be a public person. It is only the few--perhaps taking their inspiration from the Buddha, who returned from bliss to instruct humankind--that actually take the trouble to write books. I believe that Vishnu-devananda may be one of them. Certainly the knowledge and wisdom emanating from these pages suggests as much. Incidentally, "Vishnu" is one of the deities of Hinduism ("the Preserver"); a "deva" is a personal divine (such as Krishna, a manifestation of Vishnu); and "ananda" is bliss itself.

Yoga, fully realized, is a mystical and religious practice--be sure and understand that it is a practice: mere knowledge will not be efficacious. Its ultimate purpose is the realization of the Absolute, or to be joined with the Ineffable, or to live continually in the state of samadhi (three ways of saying what is essentially the same thing). Nonetheless, physical health and well-being can be gotten along the way (indeed they are prerequisites to samadhi), and sufficient in themselves as reasons for taking up the practice.

One of the auxiliary strengths of this book is in its presentation of the Vedic and Hindu viewpoint through the study and practice of yoga. Swami Vishnu-devananda reveals himself here as an accomplished jnana yogi as well as a master of raja yoga. While I do not agree with everything written here, and could easily point to some exaggerations (hyperbole, of course, is part of the tradition of yogic literature, fulfilling an "intentional" purpose) as well as to some ideas that are perhaps more central to Hinduism than to yoga itself, I nonetheless believe that what Vishnu-devananda writes is wise and measured and worth careful study. I don't think one can really understand yoga or appreciate its place in our world without not only a long practice but also a concomitant study of its origins and historical development in the Hindu, Buddhist, Tantric, Jainist and other traditions. This book is an excellent beginning.

This is a great book.
By James
As some of the other reviewers have pointed out, no book can contain every point on yoga.

I have been using this large book as an aide to my practice for five years.

For me it has been a wonderful guide. The many poses or asanas are wonderfully photographed, and the lessons section sets out various practice routines and time tables that are appropriate for every ability level.

There is full section on the philosophy behind this yoga and its history, all of which is stated in a very clear and practical way.

It is difficult to be all things to all people, but I think that this book does a good job at coming close!

Enjoy.

Strong Points
By RHunter
In my opinion, each good yoga text has something of its own to aid the student. Though Iyengar's books are tops for asanas and clear exposition, Vishnudevananda's book is particularly useful and complete on the subject of yogic hygiene and nauli kriya, the abdominal exercises, offering good photographs which clarify what text can only somewhat describe.

It's What's Below That Counts
By Steven Sean Casteel
In "Subterranean Worlds Inside Earth," author Timothy Green Beckley has collected many stories from a vast wealth of sources on the subject of what is often called "The Inner Earth Theory." The theory holds that the Earth does not consist of molten metal at its core, as modern science tells us, but is instead quite hollow inside, and supports several different races of sentient beings as well as their impressive underground cities. Those cities are said to be linked to one another by underground tunnels with aboveground openings that the occasional surface-dwelling mortal stumbles on to.
Much of the information Beckley presents comes from a man named Richard Shaver, a spot welder on the Detroit automobile assembly lines who one day began to hear strange voices projected at him as he went about his work. Following the trail that began with that unearthly auditory experience, Shaver eventually came to the conclusion that the voices were coming from somewhere beneath the Earth, from a race of creatures he came to call the "Deros," which is short for "degenerate robots."
The Deros have a story of their own. They were once a gentle race who lived on the surface of the Earth, until it became apparent that the sun was being transformed in some way that caused an increase in the amount of a form of dangerous radiation contained in its rays. Some of the Deros escaped the planet by going into space in their highly-developed spacecraft, but not all of them managed to do so.
Those forced to remain went underground and built the cities referred to above, but the sun's poisonous radiation also caused them to go insane and to develop cruel and sadistic personality traits. It is because of their evil madness that mankind suffers so much today, and Shaver himself experienced some bizarre mistreatments as he sought to learn more about the mysterious Deros. Shaver eventually published many of his Dero tales in a magazine called "Amazing Stories," which were so popular that they greatly increased the magazine's circulation.
But Shaver's story of the Deros is only one of many versions of exactly what is down there in the Hollow Earth. Beckley also offers stories by journalist John J. Robinson and others whose research has turned up different legends and personal experiences, some of which tell of a hidden paradise below our feet where beautiful, spiritually benevolent creatures reside.
Beckley's use of numerous and divergent reports helps to paint a wonderfully complete picture of the centuries of folklore that have become mingled with scientific fact through real-world investigations into the "Subterranean Worlds Inside Earth." Some of what's here stretches credibility a little more than might be totally comfortable. But if you have an appetite for unsolved mysteries that extend beyond the realm of the safe and the knowable, then Beckley's thorough overview of what may be inside the Hollow Earth is well worth the time spent reading it.

IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION OF STORIES
By A Customer
I once met the author at a conference a number of years ago. I understand he has been a student of the paranormal since he was very young. He told me he was raised in a house that was haunted and had an out of body experience early in life. He had his first UFO sighting at the age of l0. He did a column called ON THE TRAIL OF THE FLYING SAUCERS for Ray Palmer's magazine and he used to correspond with Richard Shaver who claimed that he had been in the caves and been attacked by the dero. Its all very strange. Beckley tells it best in this book. There are literally dozens of stories about individuals who have met the inner earth dwellers. Its easy to read -- Beckley has a breezy style of writing. Its exciting and will keep you turning the page.

Sprawling, Difficult to Follow, Not Reader Friendly
By TheRaccoonMan
Timothy Beckley is a long time "expert" on UFOs, etc. In this book he focuses-insofar as he's willing to focus on anything-the myth of the Hollow Earth. I would assume that most people checking out a review of Tim's are familiar with the Hollow Earth theory. This is Fringe territory with a capital F. If you believe that it is feasible that the earth is hollow, then you probably will find little here that you haven't picked up at a thousand other sources-the interior of our planet is home to the giants who propel the UFOs people report. It also has a sun that floats in air and provides the light that the giants-or whoever they are-so that they can do whatever it is that they do. There's a lot of nonsense about underground tunnels in Malta, the Amazonian rain forest, the Himalayas, etc. and no look at the Hollow Earth would be would be complete without a chapter or three's worth of material about Richard Shaver. Mr. Shaver was a mentally ill drifter who frankly admits that he routinely heard voices in his head, sent a giant manuscript to Amazing Stories at a time when editor Ray Palmer was at the helm (Mr. Palmer is a fascinating character who screams out for a biography-he was more interesting than anything Shaver wrote.) As a sort bet, Palmer retrieved the manuscript from the trash and, after heavy editing, published it. Shaver's story seemed to touch a nerve with science fiction fans and sales skyrocketed. The "Shaver Controversy" became huge, and therefore Palmer couldn't very well admit that Shaver was insane and the voices he heard were simply symptoms of his illness. Therefore, to the best of my knowledge, Palmer always maintained that Shaver was a gifted writer who should be taken seriously-he went so far as to claim that he heard multiple voices coming from a Shaver's room when he was positive Shaver was alone. This book is valuable because it includes an interview with Shaver and some of his writings. It's difficult to recommend this book to a
reader unfamiliar with the whole mythic superstructure which gathered around the subject of UFOs. This book is more for intermediate saucer buffs who aren't very critical and who have a lot of patience-I had to make several attempts to actually finish the book. So, buyer beware!!

Master of his craft!
By Sharron Grodzinsky
What can I say, this is a Ken Follett book. He is a master of research and magician with prose. He manages to keep the reader totally involved in his books. In this epic novel he takes the reader from the coal mines of Scotland to the promised land of America, He intertwines his fiction with historical facts in such a way you could believe every detail really took place. This is the story of rebellion, of hope and of love. He is easily one of the best authors of this century.

The official comics adaptation of the most anticipated of the Star Wars films! The action of the Clone Wars comes to a dramatic conclusion, and events are put in place for A New Hope. Battles rage in space, armies clash on alien worlds, heroes become martyrs, and friends become enemies-all leading up to the biggest, longest, and most incredible lightsaber duel in Star Wars history! This is the film that answers the questions, How did Anakin succumb to the dark side? What happened to Luke and Leia's mother? And why are there no Jedi around in the original Trilogy? Artist Doug Wheatley (Star Wars: Empire volume two) brings a level of life and detail to the adaptation that rivals that of the films themselves. An epic graphic novel not to be missed!

Amazon.com Review
The graphic novel of Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith is a solid representation of the highly anticipated conclusion to the most popular film epic in history. Picking up the action from Episode II, Attack of the Clones as well as the animated Clone Wars series, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, pursue General Grievous into space after the droid kidnapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. It's just the latest maneuver in the ongoing Clone Wars between the Republic and the Separatist forces led by former Jedi turned Sith Lord Count Dooku. On another front, Master Yoda leads the Republic's clone troops against a droid attack on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. And like the movie, the action takes a quantum leap up when the Sith Lord in hiding unleashes his long-simmering plot to take over the Republic, and an integral part of that plan is to turn Anakin away from the Jedi and toward the Dark Side of the Force. Unless you've been living under a rock the last 10 years, you know that Anakin will transform into the dreaded Darth Vader and face an ultimate showdown with his mentor, but that doesn't matter. In fact, a great part of the fun is knowing where things will wind up but finding out how they'll get there. The end of this prequel trilogy also should inspire fans to want to see the original movies again, but this time not out of frustration at the new ones. Rather, it's the fond memories Episode III will trigger as it ties up threads to the originals in tidy little ways. But best of all, it seems like for the first time we actually care about what happens and who it happens to.

The 96-page comic adaptation by Miles Lane and Doug Wheatley (Star Wars Empire, Superman, and The Incredible Hulk, among others) is attractive but obviously has to take some short cuts from the 137-minute film. The action scenes also are less dramatic than the Clone Wars graphic novel series. But it's a coup that this adaptation includes a late Yoda scene that was not in the film but is already rumored to be an extra on the inevitable DVD. --David Horiuchi

I'm not a Star Wars person. I'm a Mom.
By M. Heiss
I'm a mom of a Star Wars kid. I'm not that interested in Star Wars, except that -- because it is the defining passion of one of my children -- I have absorbed the characters and watched the movies with him. He is madly saving money to buy Star Wars Legos, etc.

Star Wars is very motivational for my son. So these junior novelizations turn his interest into a benefit for me -- he reads these books incessantly. I think this one and The Return of the Jedi were the ones he has read the most over the past month -- 5 or 6 times each. When I bought them, I thought they might be a little too hard for him (or at least too long -- he likes science fact books and detective books better than fictional stories.) Not at all.

The fact is, because the junior novelizations are so close to the movie, I think he can basically watch the movie in his head as he reads. Awesome -- his vocabulary has leapt forward. I think the books give him an emotional awareness, too -- the books offer more internal emotion than the characters give on the screen.

I read this entire book myself -- it is a bit scary how Anakin turned, and I didn't want my little boy to be too freaked out. This book shows how manipulative and untrustworthy Senator Palpatine was, and how Anakin's pride and fear led him to make disastrous decisions. It really does go pretty much blow-by-blow in the dueling scenes (a yawner for Moms), it shows Anakin's protectiveness toward Padme as both a source of strength and weakness, and it is not TOO gruesome at the end when Anakin is (belegged?) and burned by lava.

It's an ok book, and it's a huge hit with my son. (All these junior novelizations have 175 - 200 pages, plus movie still photos.)

Good Alternative for kids to the PG-13 Movie
By Theresa
My son was 9 when I bought this for him and had seen all the other Star Wars Movies. I wouldn't let him watch this particular movie because it is rated PG-13. I bought this book for him instead. He has read it all the way through two or three times now and was very happy to know "the rest of the story" that he'd been missing out on. I would recommend this book to parents who have kids who are Star Wars fans but who are too young to watch this particular movie.

I love comics and i really like epi3
By ockky
I love comics and i really like epi3, but this was garbage. Too often are the frames disjointed. Had I not had the movie memorized at this point, parts of this would have made no sense at all. The only redeeming quality is that it does a few have one or two scenes that are not seen in the movie
